Sewing Projects

Last weekend we got to spend some good quality time with our parents. My parents came in for the weekend, which means that shopping was part of the daily plans =) My mother is a very talented seamstress and she made us a shower curtain. It is made from a valance and a window panel. We couldn't find a shower curtain that was tall enough so we improvised. I love it! Thank you Mom!

Growing up my mom sewed clothes for my sisters and I, even for our cabbage patch dolls so that we matched! Now that we are all grown Mom spends most of her time making curtains and other projects for the home. So, we decided to tackle the windows in our living room and kitchen area. If you are interested in making curtains or any projects that require home decor fabric there is a discount fabric store in Houston at Westheimer and Fondren. It is a HUGE store that has tons of fabric, trims, and even hardware for your curtains. It is a bit of a drive from The Woodlands, but definitely worth it!

A few years ago I bought a sewing machine in an attempt to pick up a new hobby. For the first few months I used it to make baby blankets and burp cloths. Then it just seemed that life got busy and now it is in the bag collecting dust, in the same spot it has been the past 3 years! I have found that it is a hobby that requires time, especially if you are just learning. And right now we don't have an available weekend until May!
