Happy Birthday Dad!

It was really nice to spend some quality time with Mom and Dad this weekend. It was my Dad's birthday so they came into town on Friday and we did just a little bit of everything. Friday I actually cooked dinner and made a white cake just the way Dad likes it. Then the next day Mom and I headed down to the Reliant Arena for the Nutcracker Market. There are about 300 vendors that come to this from across the country. It was pretty crazy with how many people were there. Over the course of 4 days they anticipate that 55,000 people will attend! The avid shoppers that we are we made sure to get there early and start in the back where it was less crowded and make our way to the front. This strategy actually worked to our advantage. About 11am my aunt Marcia and cousins, Kristi and Lori, met up with us so that made it fun! There were a lot of samples and thankfully we did a lot of walking. Every one bought a few things so I would say we were successful. While we went shopping Allen took Dad to Woodcraft, Dad's new favorite store, and Lowe's / Home Depot. They had a few errands to run but they still got to relax watching some football. By the time we got back from the Nutcracker Market we headed over to The Woodlands to go to dinner and a movie. If you have not seen Fireproof, Allen and I highly recommend it! This was our second time seeing it. It is a wonderful story about marriage. In the right pane there is a link to the movie and other resources. It was a great weekend to celebrate Dad's birthday!

We love you Dad!
